I've been taking photographs since I can remember, my first ever photo is below! Taken in the early seventies I have remained inspired by the creative possibilities of photography. I used film gear exclusively until 2000 and didn't upgrade to a DSLR until 2006. Finally last year I sold everything and bought a Fuji XT-2 system with wide angle, standard and telephoto zoom lenses plus a gorgeous 23mm (35mm equivalent) f1.4 for use about town. I've not looked back and here are the results. I've played with Aperture, Photos and Lightroom in the past but finally settled on the latest iteration of LightroomCC. It backs everything up to the cloud and is available on mobile, iPad and the web. I love it!

My workflow is a throwback to the film days. My inspiration, Ansel Adams. His three books 'The Camera', 'The Negative' and 'The Print' have been read cover to cover many times. He introduced me to the concept of the 'zone system' to maximise the information captured by film - stretching and compressing the dynamic range of an image into the 8 or 9 stops most films could capture. Before that I never really understood why shadows blocked up, or my images looked flat. To me the RAW image is key, like a negative, an opportunity to capture the range of light, then, like a print, that image is processed, interpreted and the final print created. This might be done to accurately reflect what was seen or given a twist to reflect how you feel, to create an emotion.
